windows - How do I upgrade Apache Tomcat from 6.0.20 to 6.0.24? -

our security team has scanned our production server , identified vulnerabilities apache tomcat server v 6.0.20.

they have recommended apache upgraded 6.0.24. reading through forums, believe process so

  1. take backup of httpd.conf file
  2. using add remove programs, uninstall version 6.0.20
  3. install 6.0.24

but, have questions depending on quick test did install 6.0.20 , upgrade 6.0.24

  • where tomcat administrator login information?
  • is enough backup httpd.conf file? thinking in apache folder instead.
  • is possible not upgrade 6.0.20 6.0.24 running msi installer on same apache folder? due http/1.1 connector port being busy/used doesn't allow update of tomcat on same port?
  • is restart of server required after upgrade?

last not least, using these executables test upgrade. 6.0.20 gets installed fine when run 6.0.24, prompts me jre path , directing 6.0.20 jvm path gives me message "jvm not found". jvm info on apache manager in this directory

what missing here?

i need thoughts , advice make easy possible since production server.
